The earth is covered knee deep in leaves in the wooded areas of Owen Park, but there are a few trees refusing to drop their leaves and the sumac still shows red.

I think the park is lovely, quite small, but an urban conservtion area. But by next spring, part of this area that was promised for conservation purposes -only 100 yards from here – will be leveled for new buildings. The heavy machinery sits on a far hill.

What a beautiful place. To destroy it for new development is just wrong! I think we desperately need scenes like this, much more than we need more buildings or the developers need more money. Each time that happens, America loses one more little piece of its soul.
