One bright eyed magenta phlox stands out amidst all the other striped flowers.
Ever feel like you’re not fitting in with the crowd? That you see things a bit differently, and that you think that’s a good thing?
Perhaps this is another one of those metaphorical self portraits…
The contrast the single blossom provides makes all the others even more beautiful.
This reminds me of the “ugly” duckling… love how there is just one that stands out among the crowd! We have some flowers like that here – I’m going to have to go see if there is one little oddball among them! ;o)

Hmmm, “misfit,” “odd duck,” “oddball,” that says a lot about how we see ourselves fitting in with others–or not fitting in, which seems to be much worse. I’m with Montucky on this–the contrast makes the photo all the more beautiful. It’s not “either this or that” it’s “composition with contrast.”
I like ‘stand-outs’ in nature be it a flower or weed or tree. I like this magenta phlox that stands out among the striped phlox. Lovely. Enjoyed very much what you expressed. Indeed.
